Homes from every stage of Saginaw's growth

Saginaw started as an agricultural settlement called Dido, a name that still lives on in local roads, and was renamed in 1882 as three railroads came through. Grain storage and milling followed, and the Burrus Mill became the launching pad for the Light Crust Doughboys. The city grew from about 1,000 people in 1960 to 5,736 in 1980, then to nearly 24,000 by 2020.

That growth came in waves, and each wave built homes differently. Houses from the 1970s and 1980s may still have original ductwork and older insulation, which can mean uneven temperatures and higher bills. Homes from the 2000s boom are now old enough that many original systems are nearing replacement age.

Homes near busy roads and rail corridors can also see filters load up faster, so a monthly filter check pays off here.

Saginaw HVAC questions

Wondering what your home’s age means for your system? Call us at 817-863-1841.

My Saginaw home was built in the 1980s. Should I have the ducts checked?

It's a good idea. After 40 years, duct connections loosen, tape fails, and insulation breaks down, so cooled air can leak into the attic before it reaches your rooms. ENERGY STAR notes that sealing and insulating ducts can improve efficiency by as much as 20 percent.

Why are some rooms in my house hotter than others?

Usually airflow. Leaky or undersized ducts, blocked returns, or rooms at the end of long duct runs don't get their share of air. A duct inspection will usually show where it's going.

My home is from the 2000s building boom. When should I plan to replace my system?

If your system is original, it's likely near or past 20 years old, which is the end of a typical lifespan in North Texas. Planning a replacement before it fails means you choose the timing instead of the hottest week of summer.

Why does my house smell musty when the AC runs?

Usually moisture, like a clogged condensate drain line or high humidity inside the system. We’ll track down the source and clear it before it leads to bigger problems.
