Signs your AC needs repair

Call us if you notice any of these. Catching a problem early usually means a smaller, less expensive fix.

Warm air from the vents

Often a failing capacitor, low refrigerant, a dirty outdoor coil, or a thermostat problem.

Won't turn on or keeps shutting off

A tripped breaker, a triggered safety switch, or a failing part can stop your system or make it short-cycle.

Water leaking inside

Usually a clogged condensate drain line or a frozen coil. Left alone, it can damage ceilings and floors.

Grinding, squealing, or banging

Worn motor bearings, a loose part, or a failing fan or blower motor. Turn it off if it's grinding.

Ice on the lines or coil

Restricted airflow or low refrigerant. Running it frozen can damage the compressor.

Rising bills or rooms that won't cool

A system losing efficiency runs longer and still can't keep up on hot afternoons.

AC repair questions

Something else on your mind? Call us at 817-863-1841.

How much does AC repair cost?

It depends on what's wrong. A capacitor or drain line is a very different job than a refrigerant leak or a compressor. We diagnose the problem first and give you the full price before any work begins, so you can decide with no pressure.

Do you offer emergency AC repair on nights and weekends?

Yes. We're on call 24/7 across Parker, Tarrant, and Wise counties. Total Comfort members pay no after-hours fees on nights, weekends, or holidays, and everyone gets the full price before any work begins.

Do you repair all AC brands?

Yes. We work on all makes and models of central air conditioners and heat pumps.

What should I check before I call?

Make sure the thermostat is set to Cool and below room temperature, the breaker hasn't tripped, and the air filter isn't clogged. If those look fine, give us a call.

Should I repair or replace my AC?

Repair usually makes sense if your system is under about 10 years old and needs a single, reasonably priced fix. Around 15 years or older, with R-22 refrigerant or a failed compressor, replacement is usually the better value. Our repair-or-replace guide on the blog walks through the details.
