Signs it's time for a new system

Any one of these is worth a conversation. Two or more usually means replacement is the better value.

It's around 15 years old

Most systems last 15 to 20 years, and North Texas heat pushes many toward the lower end.

It runs on R-22

U.S. production of R-22 ended in 2020, so recharging an older system gets expensive fast.

The compressor failed

On a system over 10 years old, compressor money is usually better spent on a new unit.

Repairs every season

One repair is a repair. Two or three in a couple of years is a pattern.

Bills keep climbing

Older systems were built to lower efficiency standards and lose more ground every year.

It can't keep up

If your home won't stay below 80 degrees on a 105-degree day, the system is worn out or undersized.

How long does a new HVAC installation take?

Most installations are completed in a single day, so you won't be without heating or cooling for long.

What size system does my home need?

It depends on your home's size, insulation, windows, ductwork, and layout, not just square footage. We do a proper load calculation first. A system that's too large short-cycles and leaves your home humid, and one that's too small runs nonstop.

What's the minimum efficiency rating for a new AC in Texas?

Under Department of Energy standards in effect since January 1, 2023, a new split-system central AC under 45,000 Btu/h installed in Texas must be rated at least 14.3 SEER2, and larger systems at least 13.8 SEER2. We'll help you weigh a higher-efficiency model against your budget.

What refrigerant do new systems use?

Since January 1, 2025, new residential split systems have been built with lower-impact refrigerants such as R-454B and R-32 instead of R-410A. Under a 2026 EPA rule, R-410A equipment made before 2025 can still be installed while inventory lasts.

Should I replace my furnace and AC at the same time?

If both are older, replacing them together often makes sense because the indoor and outdoor equipment are designed to work as a matched system. If your furnace is newer and in good shape, replacing only the AC may be fine. We'll give you both options.

Do you offer financing for a new system?

Yes. We offer financing through Wisetack, so you can pay over time instead of all at once. The application takes about a minute, and checking your eligibility will not impact your credit score. All financing is subject to credit approval. Your terms may vary. Payment options through Wisetack are provided by our lending partners.
